Reviews
“EDGE OF THE LEDGE is a well-crafted and engaging memoir about adventure and spiritual discovery. Author, Linda Brierly, makes it so accessible to readers. Each chapter’s title and opening lines draw you irresistibly into the story ahead. Additionally, chapters are short so that if desired, the book may be experienced in short sips, leaving time for contemplation. Linda and Bill’s life journey speaks to all those who admire adventure and fulfillment. One wonders ‘What’s next?’ for this intrepid duo!“

“The book is a delightful memoir of a girl-becomes-woman who courageously stepped out where many of us would choose the comforts of the ‘known’. Brierly would venture out wherever opportunity and curiosity led her. Even though her purse might be slim, her desire for the unknown more than made up for that lack. She (and later her husband, Bill) took her nursing skills around the world, helping the less fortunate in any way that she could. I thoroughly enjoyed travelling with her from the comfort of my rocking chair.”

” The book is enjoyable reading. Linda’s approach to life is summed up in the book’s cover photo. Linda’s adventures show how life can provide greater rewards by taking risks boldly. Many people are thrill seekers and risk takers for their own sake to make them feel more alive but Linda, in her book, shows that including a spiritual component , acknowledging God’s existence and direction, provides greater personal rewards in the long run. Linda and Bill, by including their love of adventure with a growing and evolving belief in God enables them to not only get a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction but also spills over into lives around them which benefit from their desire to serve. But the book also shows that Linda and Bill are not saints, but basically ordinary people who gain insight and understanding from their life’s adventures. I particularly liked the section on their mission to Nicaragua with its trials and tribulations. How Bill finally accepted Christ as his Savior but still downed a six-pack of beer every day for awhile, while driving home. I didn’t see that as hypocrisy, but rather humanity in an evolving faith. All in all, a good read with lots of lessons to learn and things to think about for anyone who reads it.“
